چکیده
The lesser sac is located anterior to the pancreas and immediately posterior to the body of the stomach (1-3). Caudate lobe liver and splenic artery are also the parts of the lesser sac (4). A fluid collection in the lesser sac in not a typical manifestation of benign ascites, and its presence should direct a search for a pathologic condition in neighboring organs (5). We present a 38year-old male complained of abdominal pain for one week. Contrast enhanced CT of abdomen demonstrated one heterogeneous enhancement 7.5 cm mass with central necrosis in the caudate lobe liver, and hematoma over lesser sac were found.

Hemothorax caused by spontaneous rupture of hepatocellular carcinoma: a case report and review of the literature
We report a rare case in which hemothorax occurred in addition to hemoperitoneum due to spontaneous rupture of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) originating from the caudate lobe of the liver. The case pertains to a 56-year-old female who was transported to our hospital for impaired consciousness due to hemorrhagic shock. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated ruptured HCC originating from the caud...
متن کاملPrognosis of patients undergoing hepatectomy for solitary hepatocellular carcinoma originating in the caudate lobe.
BACKGROUND Operative and nonoperative treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) originating in the caudate lobe is regarded as challenging because of its deep location in the liver and possibly worse prognosis than HCC in other sites in the liver. The objective of this study is to investigate the clinicopathologic factors and survival of patients who underwent hepatectomy for solitary HCC or...
متن کاملMesohepatectomy with total caudate lobectomy of the liver for hepatocellular carcinoma
BACKGROUND Mesohepatectomy with total resection of the caudate lobe and extrahepatic bile duct is sometimes performed for hilar cholangiocarcinoma or gallbladder carcinoma; however, only a few reports on mesohepatectomy with total caudate lobectomy of the liver for hepatocellular carcinoma are available. METHODS A 71-year-old woman was preoperatively diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma in...
متن کاملEvaluation of the viability of hepatocellular carcinoma in the caudate lobe using contrast-enhanced endoscopic ultrasonography after transarterial chemoembolization
A 71-year-old female was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The tumor measured 65 mm in diameter and was located in the caudate lobe. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) was performed repeatedly; however, a follow-up dynamic computed tomography (CT) scan showed that the tumor remained viable. Thus, TACE was performed using drug-eluting beads that had been preloaded with epirubici...
متن کاملAn anomalous portal vein crossing the lesser sac and ending at the upper part of ductus venosus
In serial sagittal sections of a fetus on week 9 (crown-rump length, 36 mm), we incidentally found absence of the usual portal vein through the hepatoduodenal ligament. Instead, an anomalous portal vein originated behind the pancreatic body, crossed the lesser sac and merged with the upper part of the ductus venosus. During the course across the lesser sac, the vein provided a deep notch of the...
